Unless you have been lucky enough to have been on holiday for a few weeks over June, you have no doubt heard about the devastating plane crash at local Blackbushe airport, near Fleet. The incident is not the first crash at Blackbushe over the years, but the effect and circumstances has made this a very saddening accident.
It was around 3.10pm on the 31st of July when the smoke started to rise. A Phenom 300 Jet has been attempting to make a landing at Blackbushe legendary airstrip, but overshot the runway. Local residents will know that the airstrip is also utilized by British Car Auctions, and they utilized the land at the end of the airstrip for storing cars waiting for auction. Although the storage is a safe distance away by law, the plunging Phenom crashed dead centre, into a group of cars. The impact coupled with large amount of fuel quickly turned the crash into a blaze, killing the pilot and 3 passengers on board.
The victims of the crash have since been identified by their dental records as the stepmother of former al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, along with her daughter and son. The Bin Laden family is incredibly large, and all members disowned Osama after the 9/11 attacks. The plane had taken off from Malpensa airport in Milan, Italy, earlier that day, and took a nosedive when the pilot overshot the end of the runway. Since the crash an inquest has been opened into the incident, and the Foreign Office is in contact with the Saudi Arabian authorities to investigate. The auction house has confirmed the loss of over 30 cars to the crash, along with the plane and the lies of its 4 passengers.
Who Are The Bin Ladens?
Aside from their most infamous member, the Bin Laden family is extensive and successful. Osama Bin Laden’s father Mohammed was originally from Yemen, and moved to Saudi Arabia in the 1910’s where he had his family. There he became the head of a construction empire that is behind some of the biggest building projects in Saudi Arabia. On top of that, he had many wives, who gave him over 50 children before he died in a plane crash in 1968. His eldest son, Salem Bin Laden, also died in a plane crash in Texas in 1988. The Bin Laden family is very extensive now, and many of them live in the US happily. The family are known to have severed ties with Osama long before his fanaticism, and disowned him as a member of the family after the 9/11 attacks.
The crash is not being treated as suspicious at this time, and is simply a tragic loss of life. We send our best wishes to the families of everyone affected, and hope that Blackbushe can open again along with British Car Auctions soon.
